Fruit conservation is an important part of the business process at Van Kessel Fruit. Van Kessel has a capacity of 9.000 Tonnes of ULO (ultra-low oxygen) storage and 1.000 Tonnes of mechanical cold storage. Moreover, a large part of the cold stores is equipped with a humidification system so that the moisture loss of the pears is limited.

As the oxygen level in the cold stores where the fruit is stored is nil, it is possible to conserve the fruit for a longer period. During this storage time the quality, hardness and sugar levels are carefully monitored. On the basis of these quality checks, Van Kessel can guide the process of the selection of the lot of fruit that is ready to be sorted and packed.

Besides own storage, it is also possible to store other temperature-sensitive products and products related to potatoes, vegetables and fruit during a certain period.
